COVID-19 GUIDELINES
We supply and use dissolvable infection control laundry bags to meet the duty of care guidelines in ensuring the safe, isolation, transportation and disinfection of soiled linen. We request that all possibly infectious items sent for laundering be placed in a red dissolvable bag which will be placed unopened into our washing machine. During the initial wash the soluble membrane dissolves and opens releasing the contents of the bag for laundering. By treating all soiled linen as potentially infectious, the incidence of cross infection can be significantly reduced as the soiled bag remains sealed during handling. These bags protect our staff at each stage of the laundry process from collection to transportation to washing. No sorting is required when handling the soiled linen as the bag is sealed and does not need to be opened by our staff members. The linen is then processed using thermal and chemical disinfection.
We endeavour to follow best practice prevention and abide by the standard precautions of infection control by practising the following procedures at all times:
-Hand hygiene
-Wearing gloves, face protection and aprons when sorting soiled laundry
-Social distancing with individual workstations
-Daily cleaning of surfaces with hospital-grade disinfectants
-Respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette
-Appropriate handling, transportation and laundering of linen though mechanical, chemical and thermal treatment processes
Laundry Standards and Infection Control
We comply with and are guided by the Australian Standards for Laundry Practices AS/NZ 4146:2000. Our laundry workflow procedures both inside the laundry (sorting, washing, finishing) and outside the laundry (dispatch, collect, transport) are considered when adhering to these laundry standards. Both thermal and chemical disinfection procedures are followed to meet the duty of care guidelines in ensuring your linen is returned to you hygienically clean. We sanitise and deep clean our equipment to remove dirt, soap scum build-up, fluff and lint. Our washers, dryers, folding tables, trolleys, floors, machine door handles, amenity areas and high touch surfaces are sanitised and wiped down daily with a hospital-grade disinfectant.
